HOW TO INSPIRE YOU TO FIND YOURSELF
How to inspire you to find yourself
"Letting the light shine through"
"If a person lives with criticism. He learns to condemn. If a person lives with hostility. He learns to fight. If a person lives with ridicule. He learns to feel guilty. If a person lives with tolerance. He learns to be patient. If a person lives with encouragement. He becomes confident. If a person lives with praise. He learns to appreciate. If a person lives with fairness. He learns justice. If a person lives with security. He learns to have faith. If a person lives with approval. He learns to be himself. If a person lives with acceptance and friendship. He learns to find love in the world."
- Dan Clarke
Do you realize that since the beginning of time there has not been anyone of us that is a duplicate? There is no one exactly like you. You are unique. Maybe that is the reason there are things you like about yourself and things that you can do that no one else can. Some people tend to spend their thinking about wanting to look like or be someone else. Instead of thinking like that, concentrate on the things you know and can do, the things you like about yourself and develop them. Make you the best you can be. You are worth more then millions! Don't ever sell yourself short.
We are products of our environment. Anyone can learn new things as long as they believe they can. Think about what you could learn and accomplish and what you could change to better your personality and character if you just decide to change with patience enough to work hard until you develop a whole new habit. With determination, patience, and belief in yourself, you can improve your abilities to a level you have always dreamed about. It's true! I had to take time away from the world's influences and find who I was and want to be and with time it grows and grows. But it's only up to you.
Five problems cause bad behavior in young people.
- They experience a lack of self-control. They cave into peer pressure.
- Too many feel unappreciated and not needed. They don't feel like they belong.
- They experience a lack of confidence and ability to cope. They want to try but they are afraid of failure and don't feel capable.
- They have a perception that they aren't making a difference. They feel their contribution is not significant or important.
- They have a perception of "no hope." They overreact to an apparent being fired or laid off. They see "no hope" in government, in the economy, and in solid relationships.
How do we combat these five problems? It boils down to self-esteem. If we take the time to realize we are special and important just the way we are and realize we can change and grow to be better, even if our parents are divorced, or if we're poor, or adopted. Each person is responsible for themselves. Our past is gone and so should excuses be. What others say and do shouldn't affect the way we think or act. We need to take control of who we are and what we want to be. Remember, make the most of yourself because that is all there is to you!
Anyone can learn to do anything. Do you believe it? The answer is yes. We are products of our own environment. Anyone can learn new, and change old habits through spaced repetition. Even a parrot learns to speak English through spaced repetition education. Think what you could learn and accomplish for the better in your personality and character if you just decided to change and were patient enough to work hard until you developed the new habit. It's true. We learn through repetition.
With determination, patience, and spaced repetition you can improve your abilities to the level you dream about. It's true. You can if you think you can- but only if you do what you think you think you can't.
Be honest with yourself
The measure of a man's real character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out"
--Thomas Babington Macaulay
These words may add up to be a useful yardstick in behavior. Not because they provide us with a way to measure others but because they provide us with a way to measure ourselves.
Nobody will know. Nobody, that is, except you. But you have to live with yourself. You need to be honest with yourself. It's always better to live with someone you respect for their honesty. Remember, if you do things that are contrary to the things you believe in, you'll never be happy with yourself or in your life.
How much are you worth?
Would you be willing to give up your eyes for a million dollars? A hand or limb for it? I'm sure you haven't considered any of those offers. Money can never replace you, not any part of you. You are worth more than a million dollars.
Maybe that is the reason there are things you like about yourself. Things you can do that no one else can do. You like yourself because you're unique. Don't spend your life thinking you want to look like or be like someone else. Instead, concentrate on the things you know and can do, the things you like about yourself and develop them. Make you the best you can.
If it comes easy, develop it
As we go through life, you will learn things come easily to you. Some people are good at math and physics. A lot of times, just because something comes easily to us we take it for granted and think it isn't worth anything Because it came so easy for us. Don't look at it that way. Rather, look at your natural gifts as opportunities. We are each given certain gifts. There's no reason to think such a gift is not worth pursuing into a career.
I look at myself, and throughout my life it has always been easy to get great grades without study, talented as an athlete and a flute player, and now I'm discovering some things I have a natural talent for but isn't yet seen clearly. I love my new talent that I found came naturally to me and I'm doing it as a career now. It's of great importance to discover what comes naturally to you early in life to develop it.
Try something different today.
Treat everyone you see and meet as if they are perfect. Don't be critical. Look beyond all the imperfections you are usually quick to notice.
Even if you know their personal faults and weaknesses, try and put them out of your mind. It won't be easy, but overlook the strange clothes they might be wearing today, their out-of-style haircuts or lack of height. Make yourself see them as perfect, each one a unique creation with a unique reason for being there. Don't notice all the imperfections you usually do. Realize that real beauty and character come from within.
To make this experiment easier, do the same thing to yourself. Don't think about the things you don't like about yourself. I believe that there are things each and every person doesn't like about himself or herself. You aren't alone. People think their too far or something that isn't normal looking with their features. For just one day, forget all those things you don't like about yourself. Look in the mirror and really see yourself. Think about all the good points and ignore what you don't like.
